What's driving these high numbers? Some of the key factors consist of LA's expensive housing market, in addition to a legacy of redlining and housing discrimination leaving Black and Brown community members particularly vulnerable to homelessness.

On sidewalks, bus benches, and under freeways. These individuals are typically chronically homeless, thus putting them at higher risks of substance abuse, health, and behavioral issues. The overwhelming majority of these deaths are men.
